This Agriculture course is fees free for students aged 20+, runs for 12 weeks, and gives successful students a New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills (Level 2)
Study in a classroom environment and gain practical hands-on experience on a farm. You will also have the opportunity to gain credits towards NCEA Level 2. This course is designed to give you the knowledge and experience you need to begin your farming journey.
Throughout this course you will learn practical skills such as tractor driving, safe use of quad bikes, fencing and chainsaw skills. Learn how to locate hazards, describe safety procedures and demonstrate safe work practices in a rural workplace.
Learn how to safely handle dairy cattle, assist with milking, and check and report of livestock. You will learn how to build permanent fences, as well as how to install, dismantle and store temporary electric fences.
This course includes practical experience on a farm, therefore, you will be equipped with essential knowledge and skills for work in an entry-level role on a farm or for further training. in completion of the course you will be capable of carrying out practical tasks associated with an entry-level role and use safe work practices in a primary industry workplace.
After successfully completing this course, opportunities exist where we can arrange to place you on a farm if you wish. Most often, such jobs include a good salary, housing and other benefits.
Other career options include viticulture, farm supply, livestock management and other forms of agriculture and horticulture.

This full-time course runs Monday to Friday from 8:45am to 3:30pm.
