This Level 2 course is FEES FREE for students aged 20+ and runs for 18 weeks. Students have the opportunity to gain credits towards Level 2 NCEA. Plus, graduates of this course will also receive their Certificate of Approval (COA), an essential requirement when working in the security industry.
Throughout this course you will learn about the security industry, the professional standards expected of the industry, and about those who work in it. You will cover aspects of security law, health and safety requirements, personal risk management, and how to apply first aid skills.
Learn how to respond to emergencies as security personnel and apply communication skills and knowledge of distance, space and positioning to manage conflict. You will cover operational requirements including control of entry and exit to premises, as well as observation and threat identification.
Communication skills are taught in a range of contexts including; within a team, in a customer service setting, and through technology. Emphasis is placed on fitness and teamwork throughout the course, and personal appearance such as hair and general tidiness will be monitored in line with the security industry standards.
Graduates will be prepared for an entry-level role in the security industry and can look into security or defence careers, or move onto further study.

You don't need to be fit to begin with! Over the duration of the course we'll train you up to the physical fitness requirements for the industry
We prefer to only take on students who are 17+ as you need to be 18 to gain you Certificate of Approval. The closer you are to 18 at the beginning of the course, the better. We can still take on 16 year olds, however, they wont be able to get their certificate of Approval during the course.
